Birds of Morni: Verditer Flycatcher

Verditer Flycatcher (Eumyias thalassina) an eye-catching blue-green bird that is slightly larger than the sparrow. It hunts singly on flies from its perch on exposed tree tops.  It captures insects in mid air. It can be spotted in well wooded country. The males sing a sweet jingle during breeding season. It makes a thick cup of moss, root hair etc for nesting inside a hole in a mud embankment etc.
